New Orleans is not only a great port to sail from, it is
offered as a port of call of some itineraries. New Orleans
is best known for the famous French Quarter and Bourbon
street -- however, Preservation Hall and the Jazz music
is undoubtedly something that can't be missed. It doesn't
have to be Mardi Gras for New Orleans to have a party
atmosphere, night or day. The Cajun food and the Creole
food have helped to keep New Orleans famous --- no dieting
going on here. And you can't possibly visit New Orleans
without making a stop at the Cafe DuMonde -- within walking
distance of the ship for their famous Coffee and Beignets.
The ship berths right in the French Quarter at the Riverwalk
Mall. Across the street is one of the world's largest casinos
-- and the architecture and antique shops are enough to keep
one busy trying to take it all in. If you are sailing from
New Orleans -- plan on going in at least a day early to enjoy
all this wonderful city has to offer. The nightlife on Bourbon
Street is an unforgettable experience. If time permits, try a
tour to one of the beautiful plantations, or to Avery Island,
home of the Tabasco Sauce fame. If you are sailing with New
Orleans as a port of call --- you'll find yourself wanting to
return again, that is for sure --- one day in port there is
not nearly enough time.
